Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a warm welcome awaits you from one of our dedicated representatives at Rediscover Nepal Treks & Tours. After meeting you at the terminal, we’ll provide a comfortable transfer to your hotel in the vibrant tourist district of Thamel. Once you've checked in and had time to rest, we will organize a comprehensive trek briefing session where you’ll meet your trekking guide and have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the journey ahead. This briefing also includes a checklist for gear and equipment. The rest of your evening is free to explore the colorful streets of Thamel, famous for its restaurants, shops, and relaxed backpacker vibe. It’s a great place to pick up any last-minute items or simply enjoy the local culture. Your welcome dinner will be a delicious introduction to Nepali cuisine.
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and begin a scenic journey westward toward the lakeside city of Pokhara. The drive takes around six hours and travels through Nepal’s lush green hills, following the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, offering glimpses of rural life, terraced farmlands, and distant Himalayan peaks. Pokhara greets you with a stunning contrast to Kathmandu — quieter, cleaner, and nestled beside the beautiful Phewa Lake. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel where you can rest or head out to explore this picturesque town. Depending on your energy level, you might choose to walk along the lakeside promenade, rent a paddleboat on Phewa Lake, or simply enjoy a coffee while admiring the reflection of the Annapurna range on the water. The evening is at your leisure before the trekking begins tomorrow.
Today marks the official start of your trek with Rediscover Nepal Treks & Tours. After breakfast, we drive for about 1.5 hours to Nayapool, the gateway to the Annapurna trekking region. The drive itself is a pleasant journey through verdant hills and rural settlements. Upon arrival at Nayapool, the trek begins with a relatively gentle walk along a gravel road beside the Modi Khola river. The route passes charming villages such as Birethanti and Hille, where you get your first real taste of local life in the mountains. The walk includes some gradual ascents and descents through terraced farmland and lush green landscapes. After about 3–4 hours of trekking, we reach Tikhedhunga, a small hillside village. Here, you’ll enjoy dinner and rest in a comfortable guest house, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.
After breakfast, we begin our ascent by crossing a suspension bridge and climbing the infamous Ulleri steps — a steep section of stone stairs that challenge even the fittest trekkers. This section takes a few hours but rewards your efforts with incredible views. As we climb higher, the scenery changes from terraced fields to cool forests of oak and rhododendron. Along the way, we pass through small Magar villages and dense woodlands, rich in birdlife and possibly monkeys. The final stretch to Ghorepani is a steady uphill walk through misty, moss-covered forests. Upon arrival, we check into our guest house where a warm meal and cozy atmosphere await. Ghorepani is a beautiful village situated on a ridge and is well-known for its vantage point to Poon Hill. If time and energy allow, you might hike to Poon Hill this evening for a sunset preview.
We wake up at 4:00 AM and, armed with flashlights and warm clothing, begin our 45-minute climb to Poon Hill (3,210m) in the dark. As dawn breaks, we are treated to one of the most stunning sunrise views in the world. From this viewpoint, you can see over 20 snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare (Fishtail). After soaking in the breathtaking scenery and snapping photos, we descend to our guesthouse in Ghorepani for breakfast. We then begin the trek toward Tadapani. The trail climbs briefly to Gurung Hill and then meanders through rhododendron forests and open ridges with frequent ups and downs. The views of the mountains remain impressive throughout. By late afternoon, we reach Tadapani, where we spend the night at a lodge nestled in a serene forest clearing.
After breakfast, we descend steeply through the forest, enjoying the morning sun filtering through the canopy. Eventually, we reach a large suspension bridge that crosses the Kimrong Khola. After the bridge, we begin a steep uphill climb to a ridge and follow a pleasant trail through terraced fields and small Gurung settlements. Our final destination today is Chomrong, a picturesque village perched on the side of a hill with an impressive backdrop of Annapurna South and Machapuchare. This is the last permanent settlement before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. The accommodations here are well equipped, and we spend the night enjoying warm hospitality and a beautiful view of the mountains. Please note that from this point onward, plastic water bottles are banned in an effort to preserve the pristine environment.
We begin the day by descending a long stone staircase to the Chomrong Khola and then ascend to the village of Sinuwa, the last settlement before the dense forest begins. From here, the trail passes through lush forests of bamboo, oak, rhododendron, and ferns. After reaching Bamboo, we stop for a break before continuing onward through the cool forest to Dobhan. The final stretch to Himalaya Hotel involves a gentle uphill trail through a peaceful landscape surrounded by towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls. The Himalaya Hotel area is serene and gives you a sense of being deep in the wilderness. Nearby lies the mysterious Hinku Cave, believed to have once served as a meditation retreat for spiritual practitioners. Overnight at the lodge, enjoying the tranquility and crisp mountain air.
Today is the most anticipated day of the trek. After breakfast, we gradually ascend to Deurali and continue through alpine terrain with sparse vegetation and more rugged features. After a break, we make our way to Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC), surrounded by stunning views of the sacred Fishtail Mountain. The final stretch to Annapurna Base Camp is a slow but steady climb through a glacial valley. Upon arrival, you are surrounded by a 360-degree panorama of towering Himalayan peaks including Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare. The feeling of standing in this natural amphitheater is awe-inspiring and often emotional. We spend the night at a teahouse at base camp, enjoying the incredible sunset and preparing for a spectacular sunrise tomorrow morning.
After experiencing a majestic sunrise over the Annapurna range, we enjoy breakfast with a view and begin our descent. The trail retraces our steps through MBC, Deurali, Dobhan, and finally to Bamboo. Although the trail is the same, the changing light and downhill pace offer a different perspective. This leg of the journey allows you to move faster and with more confidence, while still soaking in the beauty of the forested trails and distant peaks. By the afternoon, we reach Bamboo where we’ll rest for the night in a familiar but welcoming lodge. After a long day, you’ll appreciate the lower altitude, warmer air, and a hearty dinner.
After breakfast, we begin the trek by ascending to Upper Sinuwa and then descend back to the Chomrong Khola. A final ascent brings us once again to Chomrong village, and from there, we descend steeply toward Jhinu Danda. This peaceful village is renowned for its natural hot springs, located about 20 minutes downhill near the Modi River. You’ll have the chance to soak your tired legs in the warm, mineral-rich waters — a perfect way to unwind after days of trekking. The surrounding scenery adds to the experience, with riverside views and jungle foliage all around. Tonight, we stay at a comfortable guesthouse in Jhinu Danda.
After breakfast, we begin a scenic day of trekking through rolling hills and remote farming villages. The route alternates between ascents and descents, offering sweeping views of the valleys below and the snow-capped peaks behind. Today’s walk is pleasant and less strenuous compared to previous days. As we approach Pothana, the trail passes through lush forests and tranquil rural settlements. Pothana is a beautiful village with a peaceful atmosphere and excellent mountain views. It’s a great place to relax and reflect on your journey so far. We enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night at a cozy lodge in the village.
The final day of trekking begins with a gentle descent through forest trails and scenic farmland. The trail is easy and peaceful, giving you time to take in the final moments of this incredible adventure. After around 2–3 hours of walking, we reach Phedi, where a private vehicle will be waiting to transfer us back to Pokhara. The drive is short — about 30 to 45 minutes — and upon arrival, we check into our hotel for a well-earned rest. The rest of the day is free to explore Pokhara, enjoy a good meal, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax by the lake. This marks the end of our trekking journey with Rediscover Nepal Treks & Tours, but the memories will last forever.
After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and prepare for our return to Kathmandu. You can choose between a quick scenic flight or a longer drive by road, offering varied views of the landscape. The drive back follows the Trishuli River and takes around 6–7 hours with breaks for lunch and refreshments along the way. If flying, it’s about 25 minutes in the air, offering one last view of the mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we transfer you to your hotel and the remainder of the day is free for shopping, sightseeing, or simply relaxing. This is the perfect time to reflect on your journey and celebrate with a final dinner.
Today marks the end of your unforgettable Annapurna Base Camp adventure with Rediscover Nepal Treks & Tours. After breakfast, our driver will escort you to the international airport, ensuring you arrive at least three hours before your departure time. We hope your journey through the Himalayas was memorable and inspiring. Have a safe flight and we look forward to seeing you again in the mountains of Nepal!
